Mounting lever handles
Once you’ve found the right lever handle design for your home, it is also important to make sure that you have the right lever handle type that exactly fits your door and lock case. There are several different types of doors and lock cases in Europe. To make things easy, we’ve bundled different scenarios in one box to accommodate different door types across Europe.
What is the same for most doors in Europe is that the screw distance (the distance between the two screws fixing the lever to the door, from center to center) is 38 mm. Please ensure that this is true for your door, before placing an order with d line.
Then, depending on the brand and age of your door and lock case, you either need to use bush screws or 12 mm wooden screws when fixing the lever handle to your door.
Mounting with bush screws
Often characterized by newly produced doors is that on both sides of the door, when the lever handle is dismounted, has large, round 40 mm holes, where you can see a big part of the lock case. The screws that accommodate these doors are long, bush screws that goes through the door and is tightened on both sides of the lever handle.
Mounting with 12 mm wooden screws
With older doors there’s not a large 40 mm hole behind the lever handle. Instead there’s a small hole for the lever handle spindle, where the rest of the lock case is cladded with wood. Here it’s not possible to mount the lever handle with bush screws, and instead you will have to use 4 small 12 mm wooden screws fastened directly into the woodwork (door).
All d line lever handles are equipped with a unique ball bearing system located on the internal part of the rose. This system has a diameter of 24 mm and projects 2-3 mm out of the rose and into the door. On old doors it can be necessary to mill a 30 mm hole around the lever handle spindle, to make room for the ball bearing projection in the door.
My door does not accommodate 38mm screw distance?
We are experts in lever handles, and with more than 6000 different items, we will undoubtedly have a lever handle that exactly fits your door. Send us pictures of your door and lock case from the front and side and send them to support@dline.com. Then we will help you determine which lever handles will fit your door.
Lock cases: drooping lever handles?
d line lever handles are Unsprung. To explain more, if your current installed lock cases do not have Heavy Duty Springing inside the case , you may experience “drooping” lever handles. This is particularly important in the UK where older lock cases very often are not of good quality. The springing will likely be placed in the handle and not inside the case. Please contact our customer service team if you experience “drooping” lever handles or if you would like to purchase our Heavily Sprung Lock / Latch cases for your doors that complements your d line lever handles perfectly.
Lever handle instruction guide
All d line lever handles are accompanied by a detailed instruction guide (included in the box).
